From an alarming BusinessWeek Online article: "Today, cyberscams are the fastest-growing criminal niche. Scores of banks and e-commerce giants, from JPMorgan Chase & Co. to Walmart have been hit, sometimes repeatedly, by hackers and online fraud schemes. The 2005 FBI Computer Crime Survey estimated annual losses to all types of computer crime -- including attacks of viruses and other 'malware,' financial fraud, and network intrusions -- at $67 billion a year.

Private Information Open to the Public - Part Deux
The item in our most recent Newsletter entitled "PRIVATE INFORMATION OPEN TO THE PUBLIC" generated a great deal of interest. Its subject was Florida laws requiring (a) that public records, including some dating back to the early 1980's and some containing personal information such as social security numbers, driver's license numbers and bank account numbers, must be accessible to the public and (b) that many of those public records must be available online.
