More Battery Woes
Toshiba recently announced a recall of approximately 340,000 laptop computer batteries manufactured by Sony. As were the approximately 6 million batteries Dell and Apple recalled in August, the lithium-ion batteries recalled by Toshiba were manufactured by Sony Energy Devices Corp. The fault with the batteries recalled by Toshiba is not that they presented a risk of fire, which was the reason for the Dell recall.

Privacy Rights Clearing House provides information about online data vendors and the extent to which members of the public can choose ("opt out") not to have their personal information disclosed. For example, the site provides this explanation of the differences among telephone directory listings: "To prevent the cross-referencing of your address with your phone number, you can choose to not have your information available in the phone book or through directory assistance.
