SAP’s Attributes Phenominal Growth to Analytics, Mobility and Cloud Computing
SAP recently published its fourth-quarter sales revenues data that demonstrates growing demand for its web-based and database products. SAP executives and third party analysts attribute that SAP’s further attention to, and funding of, cutting-edge technology contributed significantly to the increase in demand.
For some time, SAP has extended the company’s market scope into database analysis, mobile software and cloud computing. SAP attributes a significant amount of that exceptional growth in the fourth quarter to that market extension. The company’s fourth-quarter revenue rose 12% on the year to $6.69 billion, yet operating profit dropped 5% as a result of a new share-based employee compensation plan inaugurated last year.
SAP’s fourth-quarter performance varied across regions. In the Americas, license sales growth slowed to 3% from 37% three months earlier amid mounting concern over the so-called U.S. fiscal cliff.
SAP’s revenue growth compares favorably with Oracle, which posted a 3.4% rise in revenue in the September-to-November period. But Oracle was still ahead of forecasts and saw net profit surge 18%.
