SAP Announces Preliminary Fourth Quarter and Full Year 2014 Results

SAP has shown exceptionally strong growth in the cloud and continues to lead in this industry-wide transformation. Achieving guidance, full year non-IFRS cloud subscriptions and support, SAP’s revenue increased 45% at actual and constant currencies to €1.10 billion. SAP also showed solid software and software-related service revenue performance despite the accelerated shift from upfront to more ratable revenue. Non-IFRS software and software-related service revenue grew 7% at constant currencies (6% at actual currencies to €14.87 billion) achieving the full year target for 6% – 8% growth at constant currencies. Non-IFRS operating profit increased by 3% at constant currencies to €5.63 billion (3% at actual currencies to €5.64 billion), achieving the full year outlook of €5.6 – €5.8 billion at constant currencies.

“In 2014 we continued to deliver on our winning growth strategy. We are the fastest growing enterprise cloud business at scale with the most users in the world. SAP HANA is delivering massive simplification for our customers,” said Bill McDermott, CEO of SAP.

SAP SE recently announced, at the NRF 104th Annual Convention and EXPO, plans to launch the SAP® Assortment Planning for Retail application to help retailers better address current challenges. In the age of the empowered consumer, shoppers have higher expectations of retailers, and require fresh, compelling assortments to stay engaged and loyal. which is envisioned to enable retailers to optimally cluster stores using attributes then select and plan items per store cluster in order to maximize sales and profit.

Google Translate Gets Smarter With Language Detection, Word Lens

For all those who travel for business, and could benefit from having real-time translation capabilities, a universal translator is here, and it’s on your phone. According to Pete Pachal, “Google is updating its Translate app on Wednesday, and the new version includes automatic language detection in conversation mode, so having a conversation between two people who don’t speak the same language is actually possible.”

Windows 7 Mainstream Support Ends, But Don’t Panic

According to writer, Lance Ulanoff, the end of mainstream support for Microsoft Windows 7 has arrived. Soon, Microsoft will stop creating new features, the free support will cease and no security updates will be released for its six-year-old operating system. Many still  using Windows 7 will be able to utilize Microsoft’s “Extended Support” until 2020.
